more yogaglo.com  I have scheduled “Get Grounded”  with Felica Tomasko for today so I went a head and did that even though my shoulder were really hurting.  It was a great restorative 60 min.  Somethings were held a little long for me but afterwards my lower back felt amazing but my shoulder and neck still hurt so I did a  little search and found “Practice for Shoulder, Neck and Upper Back” with Jason Crandell.  It was a 3o minute practice which was longer then I wanted but all they had so I went a head and did it.  There were some great shoulder openers that I plan on incorporating into my stretch after crossfit that I know from bikram.  great hour and a half spent feeling good and ready to get some great work done and eat well today!

“The Simple Things” taught by Steven Espinosa

It was a good class.  A few chaturungas which I have a hard time doing because of how my foot needs to move to that always stinks but over all a good class.  I need to keep my hips open since I am walking kinda funny it is a good way to balance me out.  I was hoping to get in 15 or 20 min later in the day but did not.  Will try again tmr.

horrible focus this morning.  i could not concentrate on the dialogue.  At first I wanted to blame the instructor because he was quiet but it is really the fact I was having a hard time staying focused.  As always glad I went. I have been slacking on back strengthening and core work so I am going to put a great effort into that.  Maybe an afternoon break when I work on that.

another great 6am bikram class.  new teacher was pretty good for having only taught 10 classes.  had a hard time with standing head to knee.  also was obsessively wiping sweat out of my eyes. i need to move past that. i had now balance in my bow pose but i stayed calm and kept moving.  spine series felt less flexible.  i am going to work those back into more every day life.  Camel pose was extremely nausea inducing but I stuck it out the whole count which is my goal.

working my way through a ton of water to ward off any dehydration headaches.

woke up at 5am and checked my phone to see very happy news about the election. Then I got ready for bikram. I checked last night to make sure I liked the instructor this time because I really needed a class where I was not focusing on actively trying to will the clock forward.  Today was pretty good.  I always have had a hard time in “awkward pose” as far as getting far enough down.  Now doing squats I am a little better but its still so hard and then on top of that my arms were super heavy.  My “triangle pose” felt really good. I am almost making that L with my leg.  My legs feel so much stronger so I am more confident that I can hold it instead of slipping into a split.

today i went to bikram yoga which i have been doing on and off for the past two years.  recently i have been doing it once a week to loosen me up change up my work out.

i have been going to the same studio the whole time so i come to expect the same thing.  for those of you who do not know, bikram yoga, was created by Bikram Chourdhury, i am sure a very humble guy.  It is the same 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises every single time.  the dialogue that the instructors said is also pretty strictly regimented.  this studio has been having visiting teachers all summer who have been hit or miss but there is this new instructor who i think it going to be around for a while and it seems like she is still learning.  i am sure teaching this class is not easy but today there were 5 people.  i have taken class with two of them before and one girl walked in with me so i learned her name when she told the instructor but the instructor some how forgot, along with not knowing me name and one other person.  I am not great with names.  I understand when there are 30 people in a room and you have to call someone by the color shirt, but 5 people! I have a feeling the 5 people speaks the the quality of her class.  I meant to speak up but of course I chickened out.

anyway, i am glad i went.  i feel much better.  going to keep icing my knee and back.

Things lately have been all over the place and I have just been ignoring my blog.  My business has picked up a little and my wedding is almost a month away so I feel like that is what has been occupying my time.   There has been a lot going on.  I am going to start off on the work out side of things.    I pick up this amazing book called the New Rules of Weight Lifting for Women.

I saw it on Megann’s amazing blog Meals and Miles, which I highly recommend readying.  She is a great blogger and always has interesting, inspirational and funny things to talk about.  So she picked this up because she is training for an Ironman because she is badass.  While I am not training for anything like that I have been looking to, I was going to say tone Lou Schuler the narrator of this book would not agree, so lets go with make my arms look good for my strapless wedding dress, which I am picking up in CT in a few weeks and flying back with me.  So anyway, I got the book from the library so I could see if I like it and very quickly I really started to enjoy it.  Stage 1 takes 6 weeks if you do it 3 times a week and I was banging it out and upping my weight and feeling great.  I finished stage 1 and was starting stage 2.  My loving fiance decided he wanted to join in, we are ignoring the title of the book now.  Last Wednesday we got up at 6:30am and went to the gym to start Stage 2.  We did one move and then we moved on to the step up, which was part of stage 1.  A step up is basically exactly what it sounds like.  You hold some weights and you step up on to something higher and step down.  As we were doing them I called out “last one” and as I placed  my right foot on the ground I heard a crunch and fell over.  Vin immediately threw down his weights and I fell into tears not as much from the pain but just the fear of what this could be, broken ankle, crutches at the wedding, little to no working out.  We decided that the best thing was for him to get the car and then we could decide if I would need to go to see of professional from there.  In the end we decided that I would just not move from the couch, and according to Vin no going to the bathroom, for one whole day and see how I feel from there.  Thankfully after taking 2 days really easy I am back to normal with a little pain in my foot.

Unfortunately,  because of this I did not have a very healthy week.  I am looking to re commit myself to focusing on the greater goal and not so much immediate gratification, such as beer, friend chicken and donuts, so it goes.  I walked and slowly jogged 2.5 miles this morning and will be doing a relaxing flow class today.
